MarineTraffic is an open, community-based project, which provides real-time information on the movement and current location of ships in harbors and ports. Live data is gathered from thousands of global tracking stations in over 140 countries around the world. Information provided includes:  equipment on board, position, course, and speed. The AIS (Automatic Identification System) generating this map is used extensively in the maritime world.
