COMING SOON!
The Fairport Harbor Port Authority is excited to formally announce plans for the construction of the all-new Fairport Harbor Transient Marina. This year the Fairport Harbor Port Authority, in conjunction with MSA Professional Services, Inc. and the Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority will finalize the planning and development stages of this transformational waterfront project.
The Fairport Harbor Transient Marina project is intended to provide a multi-use public boating and recreational tourism facility to the Village of Fairport Harbor. The renovated four-lane boat launch design provides a modern, eighty slip transient marina, slips for charter boats, a fuel dock, sanitary pumpout facilities, and a separate permanent dock for the ODNR Fisheries Research Unit and support vessels.
Additional improvements include expanded vehicle and trailer parking, open-air rental stations for golf carts and bicycles, a fish cleaning station, and an 1800 square foot marina office with restrooms and shower facilities for site visitors. Picnic and concession areas facilitate daytrip planning and a dedicated pathway to the downtown business district helps transform the port into a tourist destination for both land and marine-based visitors.
Structural developments include modifications to the existing breakwall and the installation of an additional 950’ armor stone breakwall designed to protect the facility from waves and debris.
MSA Professional Services expects bathymetric surveys, ongoing soil boring, and geotechnical investigations for breakwater and basin engineering, as well as for other structural items including pavement and building designs to be completed over the course of the 2021 calendar year with a formal groundbreaking scheduled for spring of 2022.
